I think home to me sounds like a general hubbub of noise that is sort of creates this like soundscape. It's often involves the sound of the coffee on dogs barking, a child laughing or just kind just people in the house. I have a really busy house. I love to people to come over. So, we've always got guests in and friends in. And that to me feels like home.

Can you describe Her Last Christmas in 30 seconds?

So, Her Last Christmas, I would describe it as a thrilling roller coaster of suspense set in a beautiful but isolated chalet in the Alps amongst horrendous people. They're really fun to hate. So, you're following a protagonist as she navigates this world in a very scary, claustrophobic way.

The first time you knew you wanted to be an actor?
你第一次萌生当演员的念头是在什么时候？
I don't remember even thinking I want to be an actor. I just remember being a kid. I was taken to the theater a lot and I just loved what I was seeing and I'd leave feeling different. I'd leave feeling if it was, an amazing production, it would make me feel differently or think differently. And I just wanted to be immersed in that world and to know how they did it.

The first character you played in the nativity.

I remember playing a star in the nativity and I wore my mom's dress and I was about four. It probably looked like a nondescript kind of sack of cloth really. cuz it was I was sort of drowning in it and I had like a tinsel halo and I just remember waving at my mom the whole time just really happy to be there just going.

The first thriller that truly gripped you.

The first thriller I remember watching or reading that truly gripped me was actually Thriller by Michael Jackson. Someone had it on VHS or maybe it was just music video VHS music videos on MTV. So that was the first thing visually I saw that was thrilling and I remember being utterly terrified by it.

Who's the first actor you worked with that made a big impression?

Early on in my career, the people that stand out are people like Emma Thompson. The kind of friendship she created on set with younger actors was like she was a headgirl that you'd have you'd have a cigarette with behind the bike shed. Like a naughty head girl and also Alda Storton. I would sort of cling on to and go, "Show me. Tell me your ways. Let me learn from you."

The first prank you played on a co-star.

First prank. I can't remember the first one, cuz I think I've always done them. But one that kind of comes to mind, I think, because I'd upped my game, I had managed to buy hundreds of um those plastic balls from um like a children's ball pit and had managed to drop them all inside Matt Horn's dressing room. My dressing room was below his and I was remember getting ready for that that day and I just heard him opening this door and this tumble of all these balls like fleeing out and he was going, "Haley," he knew immediately it was me.

It’s the faint sound of bells and it can often be like the beginning of a Christmas song. The minute you hear a bell, it's like it's it's the mark of the Christmas season.

What's the first thing you do when you finish recording an audio book?
录完一本有声书后，你第一件事会做什么？
First thing I do is I say thank you to everyone and then running away and really despising small chat afterwards because my voice is tired. I just disappear and then don't speak for the rest of the afternoon.
