I do like many of you appreciate the comforts of the everyday routine
熟悉面孔所带来的安全感 以及日复一日的平静
Security of the familiar the tranquility of repetition
我跟任何人一样享受，不过就节庆的角度来讲
I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But the spirit of commemoration
过去的重大节日
whereby important events of the past...
通常是纪念伟人逝世 或是血腥的战争
...usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful, bloody struggle...
大家都不必上班上课
...are celebrated with a nice holiday...
我提议把11月5日订为国假
...I thought we could mark this November the 5th...
这一天早已被可悲地遗忘了
a day that is, sadly, no longer remembered...
不过我希望大家能公开讨论
by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat.
当然有些人不希望我们说话
There are, of course, those who do not want us to speak.

Why?
因为尽管沉默代替了谈话
Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation...
言语却总能保持它的力量
words will always retain their power.
言论提供了表达见解的方式
Words offer the means to meaning...
而且它可以告诉那些愿意聆听的人们真相
..and, for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth.

残暴 不公 歧视 和镇压
Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression.
在这片土地上你们曾经有反对的自由
And where once you had the freedom to object...

To think and speak as you saw fit...
而现在只有胁迫你们就范的审查制度和监视系统
You now have censors and surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting submission.

How did this happen? Who's to blame?
当然有些人要背负比其他人更大的责任
Certainly there are those who are more responsible than others.
他们会付出代价
And they will be held accountable.

But again, truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty...
