It feels like only yesterday that we brought you home. So nervous, but so excited for the journey ahead. Today, almost unbelievably, you're already 17. You're taller than I am, and you've grown into a confident, kind, wonderful young man, and I'm so proud of you.
我们把你带回家，仿佛就在昨天。那天既紧张又兴奋，对未来充满期待。如今你都已经17岁了，简直难以置信。你现在长得比我还高，已经成长为一个自信、善良、出色的小伙子，我为你感到无比骄傲。
Now, I didn't have a very close relationship with my own dad when my mom, your grandma Joe, was sick and she was very sick. He cared for her devotedly, but he and I never really spoke. We never really got to know each other.

And I was determined that my relationship with you was was going to be different. And spending time with you is one of the highlights of my week, whether it's a takeaway or going to watch the arsenal.

I do know it's not easy growing up in this day and age. I know there are pressures on young men that are difficult to talk about and questions that frankly are difficult to answer. Questions about mental health, masculinity, social media. I remember when we watched Adolescence together and as a dad that was tough to see at times. 
我深知在如今这个时代成长起来的不易。年轻男性面临着诸多难以启齿的压力，有些问题坦白说也很难回答。比如心理健康、男子气概、社交媒体方面的问题。我还记得和你一起看《青春期》时的情景，作为父亲，有时看着这些情况确实很难受。
But if there's one hope I have, it's that we keep talking, keep learning from each other, keep helping each other. The reason I do the job I do, and I know that means huge sacrifices for you, for your sister and your mom, is because I want the world, for tomorrow's generation to be better. 
但若说有什么希望，那就是我们继续交流、相互学习、彼此扶持。我之所以从事这份工作需要你、你妹妹和你母亲做出巨大牺牲——是因为我希望让世界变得更好，让下一代生活得更美好。
When I was younger, I often had a voice in the back of my head that told me I wasn't good enough or right for certain things. If I had one message for you and for every other child growing up, it would be this, don't listen to that voice.
在我年轻的时候，我的脑海里常常有个声音，告诉我自己不够好，不适合做某些事情。如果我能给你们这些正在成长的孩子们一个忠告，那就是：屏蔽那个声音。
Every young person has something to offer. And I want to make sure every child realizes their dreams so your generation has the future that it deserves. You and your sister are my pride and joy. Love that. 
每个年轻人都有自己独特的价值。我希望每个孩子都能实现梦想，这样你们这一代人就能拥有应得的未来。你和你的妹妹是我的快乐和骄傲和。我由衷地爱你们。
