He is known for combining classical and electronic music and for an unconventional approach to the piano in which he mixes a grand piano, upright piano, Roland Juno-60, Rhodes piano, drum machines, and Moog Taurus. In addition to his solo work, Frahm has released collaborations with such notable performers as Ólafur Arnalds, F. S. Blumm, Anne Müller and Woodkid. With Frederic Gmeiner and Sebastian Singwald he records and performs as Nonkeen. Berlin-based contemporary composer Nils Frahm has built a steady reputation for his intimate, poignant piano recordings, yet they so far only showed a fragment of what to expect from a Nils Frahm concert. Frahm’s heart lies in improvisation, in the magic of a moment where, inspired by the space and the audience, his fingers can create new compositions loosely based around his familiar melodies When it comes to defining the space between classical and electronic music, hardly any other name is mentioned as often as that of the Berlin-based pianist, composer and producer Nils Frahm. His unconventional approach to an age-old instrument, played contemplatively and intimately, and on a mesmerizing scale through his vast stage shows, has won him many fans around the world. 弗拉姆因为受到父亲Klaus Frahm（摄影师、也替ECM Records设计专辑封面）的影响很早就开始接触音乐，在德国汉堡附近成长，也学习到许多古典钢琴和现代音乐的编曲风格。弗拉姆在2009年发行了单曲《Wintermusik》和专辑《The Bells》开始曝光，知道2011年在Erased Tapes旗下推出专辑《Felt》才广为人知，2012年手指受伤期间用九根手指头创作了《Screws》并且在他自己生日当天开放网络免费下载。2013年收音自其2年间在各地巡演时的现场演奏专辑《Spaces》问世。
