アルバム・タイトル曲「Beyond The Mirage」をJurassic 5のCut Chemistがリミックス。

I was very excited once I heard the material. It reminded me of the Miles Davis LP Dark Magus which I believe was a Japanese only release. The Sporadic and aggressive energy drew me into the song Beyond The Mirage in particular. It reminded me of the days I used to spend with jazz and rap legends in LAs own Leimert Park circa 1991/92. The spirit of jazz elders such as Horace Tapscott and Billy Higgins was palpable and still is. It’s a beautiful thing when Jazz and hip hop meet only to follow no rules and color completely outside the lines.

音源を聴いて心躍るものがあった。日本国内盤だけでリリースされたMiles DavisのLP「Dark Magus」（1977）を思い出す。特に「Beyond the Mirage」を聴いた時は、この曲の予測できないアグレッシヴなエネルギーに引き込まれた。1991年～92年にLAのラマート・パークでジャズとラップのレジェンドたちに夢中になって暮らしていた日々を思い出してしまった。今ではもう触れることなき故Horace TapscottやBilly Higginsといったジャズの先達の精神がいまだ息づいている。ジャズとヒップホップが出会う時、そこには従うべきルールも超えてはいけない一線などもありはしない。すばらしいことだ。
