Hi everybody, it’s Frank for Real Story.I received our listener May’s story a few days ago, and I was very impressed. Before that, I had never imagined how much power a woman could show, for everything she had to do to support a family, and this woman is May’s grandma. In 1986,May’s father had to work so hard to support his family after May and her twin sister were born, that he had to work more than he could. He got too much work and too little sleep until he fell off a 6-floor building and died. The sudden accident shocked May’s mother so much that she decided to kill herself a month later.
Who would take care of the baby twins when their parents were both gone? You may wonder. Luckily, May’s 48-year old grandma answered that question. Without much education or any skills, she decided to raise May and get May’s sister into her aunt’s hands. It’s easier said than done, since her grandma had to do all the manual jobs to earn a little money for the family, and she never gave up the idea of raising May all the way to college, even though all her relatives said sending a girl to college wasn’t necessary.

(( I grew up with my grandma. My father died in 1986 when my sister and I were baby twins, at that time, my father had to work very hard for the whole family ,and he often went to work early without much sleep, then he fell off a six-floor building when he was working. For my father’s death, my mother was too sad to live alone, so she killed herself. God took a huge joke on my grandma. At that time she was 48 years old, and had to raise my sister and me, her life suddenly became so difficult. Fortunately, my sister was taken and raised by my aunt in Shanghai. Without any skills and a little education, my grandma raised me until I finished my university. What she could do was nothing but some manual work to make small money to feed me. Each time I think of how hard life was for such an old lady, I will cry. She worked very hard to get me all the way from school to college, saying no to all the families who always told her it’s not necessary to send me to college.

I still remember that one day, my college teacher told me that I could get subsidies from my college but I needed the government’s proof that I was a poor student. My grandma got me the signature from the government in two days. She stopped a police car just to ask them about where she could get the paper work done. She would never do so if it’s not for me. Thanks for my grandma, she not only brought me a happy life, but also a bright way in life ! Today is her 80th birthday I wish my grandma good health and a happy life every day! ))*music***

That’s 30-year old May telling her story, who works in a trading company in Zhejiang. Today is May’s grandma’s 80th birthday. I hope everything with this old lady is becoming better and better. If there’s ever any god in the world , she’s done enough to be blessed.
