The technique uses antibody-rich blood plasma from people who have recovered from the disease. Our North America correspondent Peter Bowes has the details. According to the Food and Drug Administration, early evidence suggests patients treated with blood plasma in the early stages of the disease had a 35% better survival rate a month after receiving the treatment. The FDA said based on early trials, the treatment was considered to be safe. Mr. Trump described it as a powerful therapy, and he appealed for Americans who recovered from COVID-19 to come forward to donate plasma. But some medical experts argue that it's too early to rule out possible side effects for some patients.
