“Wow,” said Jack, picking up the book. “The ninja book was open yesterday. Now this one. Who opened them?”
“喔!”杰克拿起那本书叫道，“昨天那本日本忍者的书也是自己翻开的，现在又是这一本，到底是谁打开它们的呢?”

Jack closed the book and looked at the cover. It showed a picture of a green forest. The trees were very tall and close together. On the cover were the words The Rain Forest.
杰克把书合上开始看它的封面，封面上画着一个绿色的森林，上面的树特别特别的高，而且十分茂密。封面上写着：热带雨林。

“Oh, wow, ” said Jack.
“哇塞!”杰克兴奋地说。

“Oh, no, ” said Annie.
“噢，我可不想去!”安妮说。

“What’s wrong?” said Jack.
“怎么啦?”杰克问道。

“I learned about the rain forest in school, ” said Annie. “It’s filled with big bugs and spiders.”
“我在学校听说过热带雨林!”安妮说，“那里面到处都是巨大的臭虫和蜘蛛!”

“I know, ” said Jack. “Half of them have never even been named.”
“我知道!”杰克说，“它们中的一半甚至连名字都没有呢!”

“It’s creepy, ” said Annie.
“那里毛骨悚然!”安妮说。

“It’s neat, ” said Jack. He wanted to take lots of notes in the rain forest. Maybe he could even name some unknown bugs.
“那里可是个好去处!”杰克说道。他想在热带雨林里做很多很多笔记，说不定还能自己命名几个不为人知的虫子呢。

“Neat? Yuk, ” said Annie. She shivered.
“好去处?!呃……”安妮说。她已经开始发抖了。

“I don’t get it, ” said Jack. “You weren’t afraid of dinosaurs.”
“我可真不明白。”杰克说，“你当时一点儿也不怕恐龙!”

“So?”
“那又怎么样?”安妮说。

“You weren’t afraid of the castle guards or the mummy’s ghost.”
“你也没怕过城堡的卫兵和木乃伊的鬼魂!”

“So?”
“那又怎么样?”

“You weren’t afraid of pirates or ninjas.”
“你也没怕过海盗和日本忍者!”

“So?”
“那又怎么样?”

“You’re not afraid of really scary things. But you’re afraid of little bugs and spiders. That doesn’t make sense.”
“你一点儿都不怕那些真正让人害怕的东西。但是你却怕小虫子和蜘蛛!真让人不理解!”

“So?”
“那又怎么样?”

Jack sighed. “Listen, ” he said. “We have to go there. To help Morgan. That’s why the book was left open.”
杰克叹了口气。“听着。”他说，“我们必须去那儿，去帮助摩根。这就是为什么这本书被打开并放在这儿的原因。”

“I know that, ” said Annie, frowning.
“我知道!”安妮皱着眉头说。

“Plus, the rain forests are being cut down, ” said Jack. “Don’t you want to see one before it’s too late?”
“再说了啦，热带雨林现在正在被不断地砍伐。”杰克说，“难道你不想趁它被毁掉之前去看看吗?”

Annie took a deep breath and slowly nodded.
安妮深深地吸了口气，然后慢慢地点了点头。

“Okay, then, let’s go, ” said Jack.
“OK，那我们现在就出发吧!”杰克说。

He opened the book again. He pointed to a picture that showed blue sky, green leaves, and bright flowers.
杰克再一次打开了那本书。他指着一幅画着蓝天、绿叶和漂亮花朵的图片说：

“I wish we could go there,” he said.
“我希望我们能去那儿!”

The wind began to blow.
风吹了起来。

Squeak.
吱吱。吱吱。

“Stay here, Peanut, ” said Annie as she put the mouse in her pocket.
“就呆在这儿，花生。”安妮一边把小老鼠塞进口袋里一边说。

The wind picked up. The tree house started to spin.
风速越来越快了，树屋开始打转。

Jack squeezed his eyes shut.
杰克把眼睛紧紧地闭了起来。

The wind was whistling now. The tree house was spinning faster and faster.
风声呼呼作响，树屋转得越来越快。

Then everything was still.
然后一切都平静了。

Absolutely still.
绝对的平静。

Wild sounds broke the silence.
野生动物的叫声打破了四周的宁静。

Screeeeeech!
咿咿!

Buzzzzzzz!
嗡嗡!

Chirp! Chirp!
唧唧!
