Each year there are many children injured or killed by toys and even guns when carelessly played or in a wrong way. Parents play a very important part in protecting their children from being hurt because most injuries can be prevented. This is Real story and I’m Frank X. In today’s story I will tell you a very sad one about a man who killed his younger sister when they were kids before.

By saying many children being hurt, I mean there are more than 9,000 children in the world who die because of being injured by toys or guns. And some are even injured by their siblings. For those who have brothers or sisters, they might remember back when they were kids, what they liked doing to each other, like hurting each other without knowing its danger. I have an elder brother who’s 2 years older. He lives in my hometown now being a driver. We always looked the same in size and his skin is a little darker than me. We always had the same clothes, shared the same food and snacks. My parents would make sure we were treated the same, sharing everything together. That’s also what I hated most. I guess I was too greedy on that. We used to play jokes on each other just for a laugh, especially me. I just loved laughing at him. And we also fought with each other a lot, which really hurt.

On a cold winter day, under the nice sunshine my brother and I went out for fun as usual. We just had a heavy snow the day before. It’s almost freezing outside, but it’s too boring to stay at home watching TV. We ran and ran, and I had an idea for fun. So I hid myself behind a wall next to the road that we had to walk to our home. When he came closer to the wall I was hiding, he was wondering where I went and stayed there for a second. On that second he stopped walking, I picked up a big chunk of ice from the ground and threw at him. His legs were hit by me and he fell to the ground. Following a noise he made, I showed up and began laughing. He was very surprised and got up slowly and his feet were hurt, not seriously though. Later I realized how dangerous it could be just to have a laugh. I also remember once I threw a small rock at a chicken egg in his hands, from 20 meters away. He found the egg in the grass near our home and wanted to show me that. The joking ideas were just filling my head. So when I saw him coming with the egg in his hands, I got a small rock and threw it to him. Luckily the rock broke the egg in his hands, and it didn’t hurt him. But it was really a close call of danger. What will happen if the rock dropped on his arm or head? It’s hard to imagine. It’s only when we grew much older, till 15 and older that I understood brothers should love and help each other instead of hurting each other. Now we have our families with our own kids and I hope his kid and mine will love each other too. Most parents in the world know it’s their job to make sure their kids are taken good care of, away from danger. However children run about and hard to watch them and follow them everywhere all the time. When the children are out of reach, accidents might happen.

On June 5th , 1989, Sean Smith fatally shot his younger sister Erin, while playing with his father’s gun. Now Sean in his 30s lives a life full of regret every day. His sister’s death left him an impact not only on him, but his family and the neighborhood. Somehow it changed the state laws as well. His sister lives at 8 forever. It happened in Florida in 1989. One spring day, Sean Smith and his sister Erin rode their bikes home after school. Sean was 10 and Erin was 8.When they got home their parents were still at work. Now two things had happened recently: there was a robbery in the neighborhood and Sean’s father hid a revolver (左轮手枪) in his bedroom drawer just in case; The second thing was the kids were punished by not allowing them to play Nintendo(任天堂游戏机). Nobody can remember why now but Sean and his sister, just like other kids, started to look for the hidden games.
