One day a Mouse goes to play at a nearby pond. There he meets a Frog. They start playing together and become instant friends.
一天，一只老鼠到池塘边玩耍，在那里，他遇到了一只青蛙。他们一起玩，很快就成了好朋友。

Frog: We are best friends, aren’t we, Mouse?
青蛙：我们是最要好的朋友，对吗，老鼠？

Mouse: Of course, we are. Why do you ask?
老鼠：那当然，你为什么要这么问呢？

Frog: Well then, let’s always be together.
青蛙：嗯，那我们永远待在一起吧。

Mouse: How can we do that?
老鼠：我们怎样才能永远待在一起呢？

Frog: I have an idea. Let’s tie our legs together with a string. Then we can go everywhere together. How about it? Don’t you think it’ll be fun?
青蛙：我有个主意，我们用绳子把腿系在一起吧。这样，我们无论走到哪里都不会分离了。怎么样？这样是不是很好玩？

Mouse: Wow! That’s an interesting idea. But it might be dangerous.
老鼠：哇！这倒是个很有意思的主意。不过，这样做可能会有危险。

Frog: How come?
青蛙：怎么会呢？

Mouse: Someone might get hurt.
老鼠：有人可能会受伤的。

Frog: You worry too much. No one will get hurt. It’ll be fun. Let’s try it.
青蛙：你担心的多了，没有人会受伤的。这样做一定很好玩，我们试试吧。

Mouse: Okay. If you insist.
老鼠：好吧，如果你一定要这么做的话。

The Frog and the Mouse tie their legs together. They go everywhere together and do everything together.
于是青蛙和老鼠用绳子把腿系在一起。他们无论走到哪里、做什么都在一起。

Mouse: I’m hungry. Let’s go to the corn field. I want to eat some corn.
老鼠：我饿了，我们到玉米地去吧！我想吃玉米。

Frog: Fine. Let’s go, but don’t run. It’s hard to follow you.
青蛙：好，我们走吧。不过你别跑，要不然，我就跟不上你了。

Mouse: Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know.
老鼠：哦，很抱歉，我没想到这一点。

The Frog watches while the Mouse eats.
老鼠吃东西的时候，青蛙只好在一旁看着。

Mouse: Hey Frog, what shall we do next?
老鼠：嘿，青蛙。接下来我们做点什么呢？

Frog: I don’t know. Let me think. What can we do? Hmm… Ah ha! I’ve got it!
青蛙：我不知道。让我想想。我们能做点什么呢？嗯……啊哈！我想到了！

Mouse: What is it?
老鼠：什么？

Frog: Let’s play at my house.
青蛙：到我家去玩。

Mouse: Where is your house?
老鼠：你家在哪里？

Frog: It’s right over there.
青蛙：就在那边。

Mouse: I can’t go there.
老鼠：可是我不能去啊！

Frog: Why not?
青蛙：为什么？

Mouse: Because it’s underwater. I can’t breathe underwater. I can’t even swim well.
老鼠：因为你的家在水里。可是我在水里无法呼吸，而且我也不太会游泳。

Frog: Oh, I didn’t know. Then I’ll teach you. Just hold on to me. You won’t drown. Besides, your legs are tied to mine.
青蛙：哦，我没想到这一点，不过我可以教你，只要你抓紧我，水就不会淹到你。何况我们俩的腿还系在一起呢！

Mouse: Will it be safe?
老鼠：这样安全吗？

Frog: Of course, it’ll be safe.
青蛙：当然安全。

Mouse: Are you sure?
老鼠：你敢肯定？

Frog: Come on. Just follow me.
青蛙：来吧！跟着我。

Mouse: Don’t jump in!!!
老鼠：别往里跳！！！

The Frog doesn’t listen to the Mouse. He just jumps into the pond. The Mouse drinks a lot of water.
青蛙没有听从老鼠的劝告，他跳进了池塘里。结果老鼠喝了很多的水。

Mouse: I told you not to jump in!
老鼠：我跟你说了不要跳！

Frog: I’m sorry. I didn’t hear you.
Are you okay?
青蛙：对不起，我没有听到你说的话。你没事吧？

Mouse: Yes, but next time be careful.
老鼠：我没事。但是下次小心点儿。

Frog: All right. Now let’s swim to my house. Just hold on to me.
青蛙：好的。现在，游到我家去吧！

Mouse: Hey, this is fun. I like swimming.
老鼠：嘿！真好玩啊！我喜欢游泳。

Frog: I told you.
青蛙：我说的没错吧！

The Frog and the Mouse swim for a while.
青蛙和老鼠在水里游了一段时间。

Mouse： I’m tired now. I want to go out.
老鼠：现在我觉得累了，我想上岸。

Frog: Come on, Mouse. Let’s swim a little more. I’m not tired. I’m having fun.
青蛙：来吧，老鼠，让我们再游一会吧，我一点也不累，我很开心。

Mouse: It’s getting late. I don’t want to swim anymore.
老鼠：天色已经晚了，我不想游了。

The Frog and the Mouse fight. The frog gets mad and does as he pleases.
青蛙和老鼠争吵了起来，青蛙很生气，他再也不愿听从老鼠的请求了。

Frog：I don’t want to be your friend anymore. You can go if you want.
青蛙：我再也不想当你的朋友了，如果你想走，你就走吧。

Mouse: But how can I? My legs are tied to yours.
老鼠：可是我怎么走啊？我们的腿还系在一起呢。

Frog：That’s too bad!
青蛙：那你可不太走运！

The Frog just jumps into the water again. This time he doesn’t come out for a long time.
青蛙再次跳入水中。这次他很久都没有出来。

Frog: Hey, Mouse, are you okay?
青蛙：嘿，老鼠，你还好吗？

There is no answer.
没有回应。

Frog: I guess he’s dead. Too bad. I’ll just keep swimming.
青蛙：我想他已经死了。真可惜，那我只好继续游泳了。

The Frog doesn’t care about the dead Mouse. He just continues to swim underwater. Then a Hawk flies by.
青蛙并不关心死去的老鼠，他还是不停地在水里游泳。这时，一只老鹰从上空经过。

Hawk: Ha, ha, ha. Look down there! There’s a dead Mouse. I must eat it for dinner.
老鹰：哈哈哈，看看下面！有一只死老鼠。我要把它拿来当晚餐。

The Hawk comes down fast. It snatches the Mouse and goes up again.
老鹰迅速地飞近水面，抓住老鼠后他又飞了起来。

Frog: Hey, what happened! I’m flying!
青蛙：嘿，发生了什么事？我怎么飞起来了！

The Frog looks up and sees the Hawk.
青蛙抬头看见了老鹰。

Frog: I’m not a Mouse! Let me go!
青蛙：我不是老鼠！放我走！

Hawk: Oh, I didn’t know you were there. What luck! Now I can eat a Mouse and a Frog for dinner.
老鹰：哦，我不知道原来你也在这儿。今天我真走运！现在我有一只老鼠和一只青蛙当晚餐了。

Frog: No! No! Please, let me go!
青蛙：不，不！求求你，放我走吧！

The Frog tries to untie the string but fails. The Hawk eats both of them.
青蛙尝试着想要解开腿上的绳子，可是他失败了。于是老鹰把他们两个都吃掉了。

MORAL
If you harm others, you will also be harmed.
寓意：害人害己。
