故事文本：
The Copper pod tree was in full bloom. Vibrant and vivacious it swayed gracefully from side to side, sending down a shower of copper yellow petals.
一棵铜荚树花繁叶茂，它生机勃勃地在风中左摇右摆，摇落一阵黄灿灿的铜荚叶雨。

“Gosh, you’re beautiful!” exclaimed the other trees.
“天啊，你太美丽了！”其他树惊呼道。

The Copper pod tree stood up straight and rustled its leaves, clearly enjoying the attention.
铜荚树站得更直了，摇动的叶子发出“沙沙”声，明显地，它在享受大家对它的瞩目。

A gust of wind blew through the forest causing all the trees to bend westwards.
一阵风穿过树林，所有的树木都歪向左边。

“Oh no…my flowers!” cried the Copper pod tree, trying its best to stand still.
“哦，不，我的花儿！”铜荚树一边嚷嚷，一边使劲站直。

Another gust of wind sent the trees swaying the other way.
又一阵风吹来，所有的树木被吹到歪向另一边。

“That’s enough!” said the Copper pod tree, as a bunch of flowers fell from its top most branches, “I’ve just about had enough!”
随着一节花枝折落，铜荚树生气地说，“够了，我已经受够了！”

All the other trees turned to look.
所有树木闻声望着它。

“Now look here Mr. Wind, I refuse to dance to your tunes anymore! I wish to sway by myself! Not the way you want me to!” said the Copper pod tree firmly.
“现在你看吧，风先生，我不想再跟着你的调子来跳舞了！我希望自己独舞，而不是按照你的方式，想怎样就怎样！”铜荚树斩钉截铁地说。

A gentle whisper broke out among the trees.
树林里一阵窃窃私语。

The wind stopped blowing. The din of dead silence rang through the forest.
风停止呼啸。一阵死寂般的沉默回荡在树林里。

A moment later the wind swept through the air again. It circled around the trees and made a whooshing sound. But it never touched the Copper pod tree.
过了一会儿，风又再扫起。 它绕着林子里的树木打着圈儿，发出“嘶嘶”的声音。但它一下子也不去碰铜荚树。


The Copper pod tree watched the other trees giggle as the wind tickled their branches. Then it turned the other way and admired its flowers. Out of the corner of its eye it looked to see if any tree was watching. But they were all dancing with the wind.
铜荚树看着其他的树, 当风先生抚弄它们的枝杈时都咯咯地笑了起来。它便转向另一边欣赏着自己的花儿，一边用眼角打量其他的树看看它们有没有看过来；但是那些树都在随风起舞呢。

The Copper pod tree tried to ruffle its flowers. But it couldn’t. It tried to shake its branches. But it couldn’t. It tried to lean closer to the other trees. But it couldn’t. All it could do was stand still.
铜荚树想要抖抖它的花儿，却做不到。它想摇一摇枝杈，也做不到。它努力试图往别的树靠过去，还是做不到。它只能就这么直直地站着。

“Gosh, you’re beautiful!” said the trees.
“天啊，你太美丽了！”树木们说。

A few days later, the Copper pod tree opened its tired eyes with a glimmer of hope. But the other trees were looking elsewhere. They were looking at the Gulmohar tree, which was ablaze with fiery red flowers. It was scattering its petals in the air like tiny sparks of fire. The wind blew around it; tousling its branches and making its flowers flush an even brighter red.
一晃几天过去了，铜荚树带着一丝儿希望睁开它疲惫的眼睛，可是其他的树都望向别处了。它们看着凤凰木。凤凰木那满树火红的花儿正开得绚烂无比，花瓣散布在空中就像一小簇一小簇的花火，风儿绕着它，摆弄着它的枝杈，让它的花儿红得越发明媚。

Nobody paid any attention to the Copper pod tree which was all bent now. There wasn’t a single copper yellow flower on it. Dried flowers and leaves still clung to its branches.
没有谁注意到铜荚树这会儿已经整个都弯下去了，树上一朵黄色的铜荚花儿也没有，只剩下干巴巴的花儿和叶子还挂在树枝上。

The Copper pod tree let out a groan. Its trunk was hurting from standing so still. It longed to sway at least once! But the wind refused to even come near it.
铜荚树发出一声呻吟，它的枝干因为站得太直而受了伤。它渴望着至少还能再摇摆一次！但是风拒绝了，它甚至连靠近它都不愿意。

“Alright, Mr. Wind, I’m sorry! The truth is that I need you,” sighed the Copper pod tree. It felt a slight waft of air near its side. The wind had come closer to listen.
“好吧，风先生，我向你道歉！事实上我是需要你的。”铜荚树叹息道。它感到身边的空气轻轻地荡了起来，风过来听它说话了。

“I know I’m a big beautiful tree, with lovely flowers and healthy branches and a nice strong trunk. But all that doesn’t matter, if all I can do is be still!” said the Copperpod tree.
“我知道我是一棵美丽的大树，有着可爱的花儿和健康的枝干，树干也很强壮挺不错的。但是如果我只能这么直立着，那么这一切都变得不重要了。”铜荚树说道。

“I want to sprinkle my petals over the little children that sit beneath me. I want to reach out my branches and kiss the sky. I want to stretch and protect the people that take shelter under me. I want to dance again. I want to be a living, breathing tree that sways with the wind!”the Copper pod tree hunched lower, unable to even stand up straight anymore.
“我想为坐在树下的孩童们洒点花瓣，想伸出我的枝干亲吻天空，想舒展开来保护树下乘凉的各位，想要再次起舞，想要做一棵充满生机自由呼吸的树、一棵在风中摇曳的树！”铜荚树的腰弯得更低了，根本没有办法重新站直。

A gentle breeze floated over the Copper pod tree. It started out at its roots, awakening them from their slumber. It travelled upwards wrapping itself around its trunk and permeating through its gnarled branches. It gave the tree a little shake, causing its dried flowers and leaves to fall away. It nuzzled the little flower buds which started blooming. The wind encompassed the Copper pod tree in a giant hug and swayed with it in a soft gentle dance.
和风拂过铜荚树，它从树根开始，将它们从沉睡中唤醒，一路往上，环抱住整个树干，渗入布满瘤节的枝杈。它轻轻地摇了摇整棵树，让干枯的花儿和叶子掉落。它轻触小小的花苞，让它们渐次绽放。风给了铜荚树一个大大的拥抱，同它一起摇摆，跳起轻软温柔的舞蹈。

The Copper pod tree threw its branches around the wind and danced like it had never danced before!
铜荚树将自己的每一根枝杈都投入到了风里，跳起舞来，仿佛它从未如此地舞动过。
