The issue has become a political hot potato. 这个问题已经变成了一个非常棘手的政治矛盾。

2. couch potato: someone who spends a lot of time sitting and watching television. 瘫在沙发上看电视吃零食的阿宅。 A lot of kids today are overweight couch potatoes.
现在很多孩子都是超重的懒宅。

3.mouse potato noun (plural mouse potatoes) [countable] informal：someone who spends a lot of time playing on a computer, especially using the Internet. 网瘾少年
My 14-year old son has become a mouse potato ever since he was given his own PC for his birthday.
自从我儿子14岁生日得到了他的自己的电脑后，他就变成了一个网虫。

4. a short fuse: if someone has a short fuse, they get angry very easily
一条短的引线，容易快速引爆，后来引申形容一个人脾气不好。
Sunny is a short fuse. So be careful when you speak with him.
Sunny的脾气不太好，和她讲话小心点。(Sunny: 呵呵)

5. a social butterfly
跟中文一樣，一只社交的蝴蝶，就是在形容那些善于交际的人。发福蝶。
Jack is such a social butterfly. He became friends with more than 100 people in the party yesterday!
强子可真是个发福蝶啊！一晚上就交了不下一百个朋友！（真的）

6.a clean slate
一块干净的黑板，引申为一个新的开始。
It’s a clean slate for John after changing to a new company.
对于John来说换到新公司就是一个新的开始。

7.a cake walk
走去吃蛋糕，形容就像走去吃蛋糕這件事一样容易的事情。
For Sunny, choosing what to eat is a cake walk.
对于Sunny来说，选择吃啥是一件再简单不过的事情了。（因为Sunny不挑食！啥都爱吃！）

8.a slap in the face
在脸上挨了一耳光，形容在公共场合被羞辱，或被当头棒喝。也就是被打脸。
Sunny got a slap in the face for she didn't lose any weight.
Sunny说了要瘦下来，结果一斤没掉。被打脸了吧！
