The following story is based on a real experience of Mickey M. of California.
When I was in the Navy, I worked in a top secret area. It had 24 hour security guards at the door and nobody who did not have top security level could enter. The only people who had access were people I knew well and none of them played jokes, so there was no question of this being a trick.
For several months on my morning watches, midnight to 8 am, I was working alone in a room quite a distance from the rest of the watch. The room was at the end of a long corridor and there was nowhere anyone could possibly hide between the main area and this room.
When I had been working there for a few nights, somebody asked me if anything strange had happened while I was there. I asked him what he meant, and he wouldn’t say. He said he didn’t want to put ideas into my head, but if it happened I would know.
A few nights later, I was at work again, and I heard footsteps coming up the corridor. They weren’t ghostly footsteps. It just sounded like some men walking up the hall and into the room. I guessed it was somebody coming up to offer me coffee or a snack, and kept working with my back to the door.
When nobody spoke, I turned around and nobody was there. I went back to work and slowly a feeling of huge danger came over me. I tried to tell myself it was my imagination and to keep working, but the feeling became stronger and stronger. I couldn’t stay in that room.
I went up to the radio room and told the others what had happened, expecting to be laughed at, but nobody laughed. Other people had had the same experience. I went back with the same fear, and nothing more happened that night. But as long as I worked there, it happened every few days, sometimes only once a night, sometimes three or four times. Nobody ever found out what it was, but nobody could stay in that room for more than a minute when it happened. This is American horror story.
