Among all the voice over skills, relaxing yourself is probably the most important, by doing so, your belly and throat are not too tense to make a natural voice. You can try to stretch your arms fully and look up to the ceiling or sky to help you relax. After your body is relaxed, we can move on to the next. How long have you not smiled when speaking? Smile and you will look better, and your smile will wake up your beautiful voice fast. As long as you put up your smile on your face, we can make the following sounds: enh,,,aha,,,,ehen,,,, for three times. This helps to move to the next: pick up any reading you like and read them conversationally, which means you are reading them like talking to a friend, and imagine you are having a conversation with him, then you will sound warmer and more friendly.
Let’s try the following conversationally: L—Do you have anything else to tell Linda? M—This girl is a real gem. N—Never light your candle at both ends. O—One swallow does not make a summer. P—She recovered her peace of mind.
These days, everybody is looking for a conversational delivery in their voice over. No more announcers... that's what they all say! So how do you do it? If you feel hard to make it conversational, imagine you're telling a story to your friend instead of “reading” it. Reading your script three times to be familiar enough helps much too. Some professionals even put a friend’s picture before them when reading, and it works. So always remember to read like talking, with a smile on your face, and you are moving closer to being professional.
