Mr. Trump has meanwhile sought to distance himself from racist chant aimed at the Somali-born congresswoman Ilhan Omar during his election rally in North Carolina on Wednesday. He said he wasn’t happy about people shouting “Send Her Back” and started speaking very quickly to try to intervene. TV footage shows he paused when the chant erupted.
South African soldiers have started patrols in the suburbs of Cape Town following a recent surge in gun violence there.
