Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial is the debut studio album by Compton rapper Roddy Ricch. It was released on December 6, 2019.
On October 11, 2019, Roddy released the album’s first single, the triumphant “Big Stepper.” He followed that up two weeks later with the Gunna assisted, “Start wit Me.” On November 25, 2019, he released the third and final single, “Tip Toe,” which featured the efforts of A Boogie Wit da Hoodie.
On December 1, 2019, Roddy revealed the tracklist for Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, where he unveiled the song titles and majority of the features via Twitter. He noticeably hid the feature on “Antisocial,” asking fans to guess who it was in the comment section:
i’ll drop early if y’all guess my last feature
The track “Antisocial” was noticeably missing in the album’s final release on December 6, 2019.
How did this record perform on the Billboard charts?
Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial debuted and peaked at #1 for the chart week of December 21st, 2019, after moving 101,000 album-equivalent units. It is Ricch’s first #1 album in his discography.
The album then regained the #1 spot during the chart week of January 18, 2020, due to the slow-burning popularity of tracks such as “The Box” (a Hot 100 #1 hit in its own right) and Ricch and Mustard’s collaborative track “High Fashion.”
In the chart week of January 25, 2020, Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial placed at #2 on the Billboard 200. However, the record had its best commercial week yet, moving 110,000 copy equivalents, barely losing out on the #1 spot to pop singer Selena Gomez’s Rare by approximately 2,000 album sales.
Will there be a deluxe version of this album?
In his January 2020 interview with Billboard, Roddy alluded to a deluxe release of the album, saying:
I’m still working on it. It’s still a work in progress. I feel like my work ain’t done as far as the album, as far as us continuing to grow and giving the fans something different from what they’ve already experienced. I feel like that’s one thing that I take into consideration every time I make music or make a move, I kind of want to be somebody that thinks shit through. I want to make people think about certain things or have them ask the question of ‘Why?’ I just want to always keep the people wondering. We’re going to feed the streets again. I mean, we’re just going to continue to be great, and continue to strive for the best shit that we can. It takes a lot for me to be excited.
