NPR has marveled at Aisha Badru’s ability to draw you in so deeply “until she might as well be whispering in your ear.” With the environmentally conscious "Soil’s Daughter,” Badru continues to meld powerful, emotional lyrics such as “Our stage is the earth below us, but we destroy it till she can’t hold us” delivered with the ethereal vulnerability that has become her trademark. Badru describes the song, "At a time when our forests are disappearing, ecosystems are collapsing, and self-interested corporations are determining the well-being of the planet and its people, more than ever we need to harness our individual power to create change through understanding and collective action. I hope that Soil’s Daughter will touch the forgotten place within us that knows that all life is connected. I believe that it won’t be until we begin to live in accordance with this truth that we will see true change in the world."
