As soon as he was out of sight, Harry stopped beside a tree to rest.
Harry一跑出大家的视线就开始靠在一棵树下休息。
他的呼吸有些急促：
“Just… need to… catch… my breath…”
“我只是需要喘口气……”
其实，
After all his early morning training, Harry was very tired.
清晨的训练结束后，Harry已经非常累了。
Nobody was looking. He had plenty of time to sit down for a while.
趁没人看见。他有大把时间坐下来休息一会儿。
Harry一边啃苹果一边安慰自己：
He would still win the race easily.
他仍然可以很轻松地赢得比赛。
于是，
His eyes started closing.
他的眼睛开始闭上了。
Why not have a nap?
为什么不睡个午觉呢？
Harry相信，等他睡完一觉再赢了比赛，
That would make it even funnier when he won the race.
会让结果更加有趣。
He settled down in the shade. Soon he was asleep.
他躺在树荫下，很快，就进入了梦乡。
Meanwhile, Tom Tortoise was slowly making his way along the course.
与此同时，乌龟Tom沿着这条路一直慢悠悠的走着。
Most of the animals had gone straight to the finish line. Only Tom’s friends stayed with him.
大部分的动物都径直跑到了终点线。只有Tom的朋友还在陪着他。

大家还记得起跑线怎么说嘛？对了，是starting line起跑线。终点线是finish line。
Tom和朋友们慢慢向终点线走去，
Nobody saw Harry sleeping under his tree.
没有人看见兔子Harry在树下睡觉。
Hours passed. The sun was setting and the air was cool.
几个小时过去了。太阳下山了，空气也变得凉飕飕的。
Harry woke with a start.
Harry在睡梦中惊醒了。
Where was he?
他这是在哪儿呢？
Suddenly he remembered the race.
突然，他想起了比赛。
He hadn’t meant to sleep for so long… but he could still beat Tom.
他本不想睡那么久的……但他还有希望能打败Tom。
Harry felt much better after his nap. He did a few stretches, then raced off.
现在，Harry感觉身体比睡觉前好了很多。
他做了一些伸展运动，然后就跑了。
He could see the finish line now.
不一会儿，他就看到了终点线。
There was a huge crowd……and they were already cheering.
终点线附近有一大群人……他们已经欢呼起来了。
At that moment he saw a small, brown shell shape coming up to the line.
那一刻，他看到一个棕色的小贝壳出现在队伍里。
Harry felt cold all over. Surely that wasn’t Tom?
Harry感到全身冰冷。他想，那肯定不会是Tom吧？
He ran, faster than ever before.
他开始疯狂地奔跑，比以往任何时候都更快。
Yes, he could do it!
他能做到！
距离终点线越来越近了，
The cheering grew louder and louder.
欢呼的声音变得越来越大。
大家都说：
“Look, it’s Harry!” “Whatever happened to him?”
“看，是Harry！他怎么了？怎么这么慢？”
Harry dived over the line, but he was too late.
Harry冲过终点线，但为时已晚。
大家高声欢呼着：
“Tommy’s the winner!”
“Tommy是冠军！”
“Well done Tommy!”
“干得好，Tommy！”
Tom Tortoise had won- and he didn’t even look out of breath.
乌龟Tom赢了——他甚至连一口粗气也没喘过。
