介绍: China unveils first space tourists for 2028 suborbital flights

China has officially unveiled its first group of civilian space travellers as a private aerospace firm sets its sights on launching the country’s earliest commercial crewed spaceflight within the next two years. Beijing-based InterstellOr Human Spaceflight Technology announced the milestone at a global space tourism launch event held on Thursday, where more than 20 confirmed space tourists were introduced, including a humanoid robot.
At the centre of the event was the first public appearance of the full-scale test capsule of Crosser 1, also known as CYZ1, China’s first commercially developed crewed spacecraft. A single ticket for the suborbital journey has been priced at three million yuan, with the company confirming that more than three CYZ1 spacecraft have already been booked. The inaugural crewed mission is currently scheduled for 2028.
According to the technical team, CYZ1 will carry passengers to an altitude of around 100 kilometres, crossing the Kármán line, which is internationally recognised as the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and outer space. Once beyond this threshold, travellers will experience between five and ten minutes of weightlessness before returning to Earth. Those signed up so far come from diverse backgrounds spanning science, business, aerospace, the arts, entertainment and digital media. Among the confirmed participants are Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Li Li-cheng and Qiu Heng, chief marketing officer of Shanghai-based Zhiyuan Robotics. Actor Huang Jingyu has been registered as space tourist number 009, describing it as a great honour to reach space aboard a spacecraft developed in China.
InterstellOr emphasised that CYZ1 has been designed from the outset with near-total reusability in mind, drawing on experience from China’s Shenzhou programme while adopting international design concepts that prioritise passenger comfort and safety. The company aims to achieve a reusability rate of 99 per cent by mass through innovative structural layouts and fully reusable key systems.
Prospective space tourists are required to undergo structured professional training before flight. Experts say participants must gain basic aerospace knowledge, understand suborbital flight procedures and learn emergency response measures to ensure both safety and comfort during the mission. Visitors at the launch event were able to experience training simulations, including a hand-cranked space ring designed to help users adapt to space-like conditions.
