Growing up isn't easy for everyone, even Riley. When her father moved the family to San Francisco for work, Riley had to say goodbye to the life she had known. Like everyone else, Riley is dominated by her brain's five emotional villains -- joy, fear, anger, disgust, and Sadness. These five emotions reside in a control center in Riley's mind, where they can be appropriately deployed to guide Riley's daily life. However, moving to San Francisco, Riley needs to adjust to a new environment and life, and chaos gradually breeds in the control center. On Riley's first day at her new school, five emotions are out of control, causing Riley to embarrass herself in front of her new classmates, and Joy and Sadness are thrown out of the control center in the chaos and fall into Riley's mind. Only fear, anger, and disgust left the control center more chaotic, and Riley could not even communicate properly. Joy and Sadness must try to get back to the control center and save Riley's life and family before she completely collapses.
