first off can you say hello to your Korean fans

this is actually it's our first time interviewing anyone

wow so what an honor

I hope we're good guests for you yeah

we apologize in advance if things aren't that smooth

first question please tell us about Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning PART ONE

wow

that's a lot so there's a big motorcycle cliff jump like you can see here

that was crazy he did it for real

that's its big action sequences there's comedy in

it drama lots of emotion between the

characters new characters so new cool characters

but of course Simon is the regular much

love fixture the seventh Mission Impossible

I think it's the best one and

I think it's the best it also reminds me

and I'm not just saying this but one of

the things I love about kdrama is how

varied those shows are that they can be

funny and then they're dramatic and then

they're violent and then they're sweet

right

and I think Mission has that

mixture of it takes you everywhere all

over the kind of spectrum of emotion

that's exactly what I thought while

watching the movie yeah it was amazing

what is the most appealing part of your character

so starting from Haley

uh that she's she's not just one thing she's not

just an archetype she has lots of self

insurance and then tons of self-doubt

she's confident that then she is very

vulnerable and we don't really know who

she is when the film begins so she goes

on a really fun Journey

hey wow that's such a good answer

did you have to like practice oh I'm sorry

no no I was gonna say I think

Benji's best feature is probably his

biceps but

good answer too for me my character is

dangerous and lethal and I think she has

a side of her that is kind of punk you

know that you haven't seen in the other

female characters in the franchise so

it's kind of nice to bring something new

to you know

oh you're so Punk right now

Simon we understand you have

participated as a screenwriter in many

Works did you ever want to write for a

mission impossible well we have such an

incredible writer for these films in

Chris Macquarie who's also the director

but Chris is always very keen that we we

add something of ourselves and in the

moment we can improvise and you know

because uh he's very keen on the

characters feeling very real right so

occasionally I'm able to to contribute

but when you have a writer as good as

Macquarie you feel very safe like since

you've like worked with them for so long

like you've been in the series since the

third movie that's right yeah right yeah

yeah oh this is for Palm and Haley um

one of the most memorable scenes was the

car chase in Rome did you practice

driving separately and were there any

difficulties yeah well I I studied drifting

wow five months with this amazing stunt

coordinator Wade Eastwood so in order to

portray kind of the recklessness and the

unpredictability of that car chase we

had to be so prepped it's so fun though

man it's insane how you do all your

stunts like by your own that's like

really I mean you have to with Tom he's

so inspiring you know you need to invite

you push yourself even more come on yeah

right it took a couple of takes right he

did like seven or eight seven or eight

times in front of us I remember we we

had dinner but talking about the day and

we were talking about our day and we

were like so what did you get up to and

he went oh I just bit a training for the

jump that I'm doing so I've done 29

skydives today I think and and he was

still and I was like if I'd done 29

skydives I'd be flat asleep I'd be fast

asleep and it's it's because he loves it

so much which action scene of yours are

you most excited for audiences to see

oh there's so many well my favorite

scene I think is probably the airport

just because there's so much going on

right

um you know the obvious answer is the

cliff jump because it's the most

spectacular yeah there's so many they're

so amazing I mean I can't wait for

people to see the fight that I have with

Tom as well you know that was really

trained really hard for this one is very

challenging it was such a narrow space

you know to fight in so we're so limited

with the movement it was incredible to

get to do it with Tom you know you're so

good in it as well thank you I love the

the train sequence I think it was

terrifying at times to do it because

it's you know it's it's real we're

already kind of up there and there's one

bit where we had to run across the train

Carriage as it's on a steep incline so

it goes from horizontal in six seconds

and there's a moment where Ethan says to

my character gray so do you trust me and

I in that moment just just was like no

that was your real response yeah it was

real it was real here's your last

question should have the three of you

watch the finished completed movie yeah

yeah four times four times wow we

watched the film two days ago yeah it

was such an amazing experience we were

awestruck because the action sequences

are crazy time flew by so fast when the

film ended we were like well that was

actually pretty sure what was that like

an hour and a half and it was like

almost three hours

they were in the edit and we were asking

them how long is the movie gonna be and

Tom's response was so brilliant he's

like it's as long as it is entertaining

right right we had so much fun we're

really excited thank you thank you so

much that you're interviewing us today

yeah well thank you yeah congratulations

okay we have a mission this time we're

gonna promote using a game familiar to

Korean bands it's called debate night

it's kind of like a balance game okay

today we're going to try an easy version

of debate night with you all I'm gonna

give you the topic right away saving the

people I love versus saving all of

humanity

includes the people that I love no no no

it excludes

Does it include animals too all of

humanity um yeah okay that kind of

includes like human beings like animals

more than human beings but no

um

I'm sorry to everybody in this room but

I could not in all good Consciousness

let them go I just couldn't such a hard

is I'm going to be debating that for the

I love that stuff it's so great you know

when you come to a country and you don't

know the language you guys are bilingual

this is fantastic to be able to

communicate in some way it means so much

night so to have a gesture it creates

that sort of uh

see that we had light sticks as well but

I felt oh yeah we've made it we've got a

there is this thing called the lung hair

Series so you say I love you in Korean

so the long hair series is you mix your

name into Sarang so for instance you're

signing packs

and you would do like oh perfect perfect

and palmy will be like

perfect perfect and it would be like

Haley long hair

oh so um the next time you guys come to

Korea maybe you could do that to your

Korean fans and they'll love it they

don't love it we should be back next

year with part two so we'll come back
