How did your musical journey begin?

I have always been playing music. I started playing the drums when I was 8 and I started producing when I was 12.

You are best known for your hyper-rhythmic club edits. What is your typical creative process when reworking popular tracks?

My creative process is constantly changing. But sometimes I start by creating a bass, then adding drums. Usually I leave the shape of the composition almost in it’s original form. My process is extremely intuitive, and while working, I stay open to try out strange and playful ideas.

Why did you choose DJ G2G for your alias?

There is no deeper meaning with my name. I have always been addicted to playing online videogames. When I’d play with someone, and have to leave, I’d write “g2g”, which means “got to go”.

Your tracks have collectively racked up over a million streams on Soundcloud. How does it feel knowing that your music is finding a larger audience?

I never expected my music to reach so many people. That in itself is amazing, but it is especially very touching for me to experience that I can inspire other queer, non-binary, and trans communities around the world with my music.

How has growing up in Copenhagen impacted you as an artist?

Growing up in Copenhagen gave me the possibility to graduate in Electronic Composition at The Danish Rhythmic Music Conservatory. This, along with touring across the world DJ’ing, has laid the foundation from which I produce and create music that focuses on genre-bending sounds with hybrids of many origins. When I started producing, I was very inspired by trance & techno artists based locally here in Copenhagen and nearby cities like Malmö and Berlin, but now I find my inspiration all over the world.

Biggest “pinch me” moment in your career thus far?

I’ve had a lot of unreal experiences at my shows, but playing last year at FINAL in Taipei, Taiwan, was an outstanding moment. I have never experienced such an energetic and generous crowd before. A magical synergy occurred that lasted throughout my whole set and it filled me with so much gratitude.

What is next for you?

I hope to collaborate with many of the artists i have connected with online and on my travels, while I continue touring / playing cute shows across the globe.
