“I think expressing yourself is really important because it allows us to understand ourselves better and process what we're feeling.

There was a time when I used to hold in my anger and suppress my emotions because I felt like they would inconvenience others.

But I realized that me not expressing myself was actually more of an inconvenience to others because I would let things build up until it all eventually blew up into something even bigger.

I guess it helps living with so many of my members because, over time, I learned to be more expressive—that it's okay to say what I'm thinking, right on the spot.

If you think about it, when you express yourself, you're essentially sending out a signal to those around you that says, “This is who I am. These are the things that I like. This is the way that I think. This is me.”

By doing that, you're opening up the floor for others to be able to relate with you in some way and therefore cultivate deeper and more meaningful relationships.”
