It has been ten years since the death of frank zappa,one of the greatest rock composers,lyricists,guitarists,and freaks.he become a cult figure already with the release of his first records in the mid 60s.he inspired numerous major personalities of world rock his creativity.collaborating with many of them.other luminous musicians famous today began their careers in his various incarnations of mothers of inventions or zappa diverse projects.
Zappa always had a wide audience on the territory of the crech republic.quite a few books,fanzine and articles about him have been published and his fan club is still in existence.Crech vinyl and cd collectors have been constantly exchanging zappa’s recordings since the 60s,now also internationally.The Czech republic might be the land with the highest percentage of “zappologists”per capita.Already by the late 60s zappa inspired Crezh bands The primitives group and plastic people,while the cult band Elekrobus played his compositions in the 70s.Later,in the early 90s,Zappa was chosen as the first prophet of the postmodern bands who mixed styles withen the crossover wave.These were impressed by zappa’s ability of natural and convincing fusion of various music froms.
The idea to release an album by Czech musicians interpreting FZ's compositions had been maturing for a long time. The task was not to play or record them as transcribed. What we wanted to achieve was to give each artist the space to take hold of Zappa's traditionally rich composition material through their own interpretation. The bands chosen for the project have been influenced by Zappa one way or another - or they just simply like him. The idea and possbility to submerge into Zappa's realm and create, with the participation of the great spirit, something original was a major driving force. I believe that the result is good beyond expectations. Among other things the compilation demonstrates that artistic fruitfulness, in the U.S.A., Czech Republic or wherever, is not always connected with tabloid fame, big money or television exposure.
