Today we go out of the box when it comes to adverbs of frequency and we show you a few new ones that you haven’t heard before.

“Hi Lindsay and Michelle I found AEE Podcast just a few weeks ago and I’m already a huge fan. My favorite episodes are ones on nuances and expressions. I have been living in Canada for one year. I have an idea for an episode. I’d be glad if you guys had an episode on adverbs which indicate frequency such as “often,” “sometimes,” “once in a while” and “from time to time.” I’d like to know how common and how casual or formal they are. Thanks!

-Natsuki, AEE Listener
Adverbs of Frequency:
Always- a less common one is “all of the time”
Usually- you could also say “typically”
Occasionally- you could say “every once in a while”
Seldom- this sounds old fashioned and formal. Instead of this one you could say “hardly ever” or “practically never”
