Iranian media（媒体） reports former President（总统） Mohammad Khatami（穆罕默德·哈塔米） has announced（宣布） he will run in the June presidential elections（总统选举）. Today's announcement ends weeks of speculation（推断）. Khatami is considered a reformist（改革主义者，改革者） and overwhelmingly（压倒地） won the presidency（总统; 总统的任期; 管辖; 支配） in 1997 but he couldn't bring about religious（宗教的） and democratic（民主的） freedoms because of strong opposition（反对） from the country's religious establishment（反对改革的当权派，反对改革的保守当权派）.
