[12:18.71]The last reading.
[12:21.07]English New Words
[12:24.93]New words enter the English language all the time.
[12:29.53]In fact, English has always been in a state of evolution.
[12:35.25]In recent years more and more words and phrases have entered the language.
[12:41.41]It's partly due to the increased willingness of editors
[12:46.51]to include them in the dictionaries.
[12:49.93]But where do all these words come from?
[12:53.79]Words come out of the culture they represent and describe.
[12:58.83]So if you've got a new development in medicine, for example, bird flu,
[13:04.61]then you'll get the new word coming out of that.
[13:09.34]If there's a military conflict,
[13:11.64]that may well bring all sorts of new words to the fore.
[13:17.05]Going back in time the First and Second World Wars
[13:20.84]were times of great creativity of language
[13:25.39]because people from different countries met each other and exchanged their words
[13:31.05]and words developed from there.
[13:34.90]So really words come from the playground, politics and any area of life
[13:42.37]because every area of life is changing from day to day.
