《My Shadow》
I have a little shadow
that goes in and out with me.
我有一个小小的影子，
跟着我进进出出。

And what can be the use of him
is more than I can see.
他的能力超出我的想象。

He is very, very like me,
from the heels up to the head.
他和我，长得好像好像，
从头到脚都很像。

And I see him jump before me,
when I jump into my bed.
当我跳上床的时候，
我发现他跳在我前面。

The funniest thing about him
is the way he likes to grow.
最好玩的是，他喜欢变来变去的。

Not at all like proper children,
which is always very SLOW
一点都不像个安分的孩子，
别人都是慢慢的。

For he sometimes shoots up taller
like a bouncy rubber ball.
有时候，他变得就像弹力球一样变得好高。

And he sometimes gets so little
that there's none of him at all.
有时候，他变得好小好小，小的都看不见他。

He hasn't got a notion of
how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me
in every sort of way.
他还不知道怎么样和小孩玩，
只会用各种法子来戏弄我。

He stays so close beside me,
he's a coward, you can see.
I'm too brave to stick to mummy
as that shadow sticks to me!
看吧，他是一个胆小鬼，
老是和我贴得很近
我太勇敢了都不粘妈妈，
不像影子，老是粘着我！

One morning, very early,
before the sun was up.
一天清晨，太阳还没升起来。

I rose and found the shining
dew on every buttercup
我早早地起了床，在金凤花上，
我发现了亮晶晶的露珠。

But my lazy little shadow,
like an naughty sleepy-head,
Had stayed at home behind me
and was fast asleep in bed.
但是我那懒懒的小影子，
好像一个淘气的瞌睡虫，
他背着我，一直呆在家里，
躺在床上睡大觉。
