Ethnomusicologist （种族音乐学家）Sylvia Bruinders at the University of Cape Town says the slaves took to the streets. The slaves copied（复制，拷贝） European and American minstrels who visited the Cape. Eventually, a distinctive（独特的） South African sound developed. Today the minstrels are a holiday tradition among Cape Town’s mixed-race or “colored（有色的）”residents, many of whom are descendants （后代） of slaves.
