天神垂头丧气地走在森林里，正让小动物们撞见了。
“What’s the matter?” asked the other animals.
“怎么了？”其他动物们好奇的问。
“Leopard won’t let me play his drum.”
“豹子不肯让我玩他的鼓。” Play the drum 打鼓
“I wish I had that drum,” the Sky God said.
“我真希望我有那只鼓，”天神摊开双手说。
“I’ll talk to Leopard,” said the python.
python巨蟒从树上慢慢探下身子，说：“我去和豹子谈谈。”
很快，
He found the leopard, playing his drum as usual.
他就找到了像往常一样正在玩着大鼓的豹子。
“Hello, Leopard.”
“你好哇，豹子。”
“What do you want?” growled the leopard.
“你想干什么？”豹子抱紧了他的大鼓低声嘶吼着。
“May I look at your drum?” asked the python.
“我可以看看你的鼓吗？”巨蟒问道。
“No!” roared the leopard, “Go away!”
“不！” 豹子咆哮着，“走开！”
and he showed his long teeth and his sharp claws.
露出了他长长的teeth牙齿和锐利的claws爪子。
The python slithered away quickly.
巨蟒讨了个没趣，快速滑走了。
“Well?” said the Sky God.
“怎么样了？”天神托着下巴满是期待。
“Sorry,” said the python. “It’s too dangerous.”
“对不起，”巨蟒说。“实在太危险了。”
这时大象听不下去了，
“I’m not scared,” said the elephant. “I’ll talk to him.”
“我不怕，”“我会和他谈谈的。”大象说道。
于是，大象走进森林，
He soon heard the drum. Where was the leopard?
他很快就听到了鼓声。但是，豹子在哪里呢？
“Ha!”空中忽然传来一声呐喊。
The elephant looked around.
大象环顾四周。
There he was-up in a tree.
原来，他是在一棵大树上。
“May I look at your drum?” asked the elephant.
“嘿，我可以看看你的鼓吗？”大象仰起头望着树上的豹子问。
“Leave me alone!” roared the leopard.
“离我远一点！”豹子伸出爪子怒吼道。
The elephant shook and shook the tree……but he couldn’t shake the leopard out.
大象用力摇了摇大树… …但他并没有把豹子晃下来。
大象只能灰溜溜的回到了天神那里，
“Well?” said the Sky God.
“成了吗？”天神迫不及待的迎了上来。
“Sorry,” said the elephant. “It’s too difficult.
“对不起，”“实在太困难了。”大象抱歉的摇着自己的长鼻子。
“Let me try,” said the tortoise.
“让我试试吧。”一只小乌龟爬了过来。
Now in those days the tortoise had no shell, only a little soft body.
那个时候乌龟还是没有壳的，只有一个小小的柔软的身体。
“You?”
“凭你？”天神有些疑惑道。
They others laughed.
其他人都大笑起来。
“You’ll never do it.”
“你永远也做不到的。”
But the tortoise said, “Wait and see.”
但乌龟却说：“等着瞧吧。”
