历史背景的电影出现
电影中如果有18世纪的英国军队，一般都会出现《英国掷弹兵进行曲》，比如：《爱国者》、《太阳帝国》、《加勒比海盗》、《巴里.林顿》......等等。

创作背景
掷弹兵是17世纪中叶欧洲陆军的一个兵科，最早是指军队中能投掷手榴弹的步兵。由于当时的手榴弹体积重量类似小型炮弹，因此需要在步兵当中挑选臂力过人的士兵才有办法投掷，这些士兵在战斗中需要在己方战线的前面向敌方投掷手榴弹，因此在欧洲军队中将掷弹兵的称号作为表彰军人英勇战斗表现的荣誉称号，也幛显掷弹兵是步兵当中的精锐及佼佼者。虽然掷弹兵逐渐退出了历史舞台，但鼓舞步兵的士气并延续军队的传统，“掷弹兵”的称号被延续下来，例如二战时德国的“装甲掷弹兵”。掷弹兵行进曲是英国最著名也是历史最为悠久的步兵行军曲，其历史可以追溯到17世纪，原作者不明。目前的版本是在18及19世纪逐渐改编而得，是英国步兵在行军及攻击发起时最常用的行军曲，当步兵方阵攻击前进伴以此乐来鼓舞士气。目前是英国皇家掷弹兵卫队军乐队常年性演奏的主要曲目之一。
掷弹兵进行曲
这首乐曲最早发现的出处是在一本名为"普莱福德的舞蹈（Playford's dance）"的著作中，以"新浴池（The New Bath）"为标题的曲目。但也有研究认为，这首曲子改编自荷兰的"弗里斯兰王子（De Jonge Prins van Friesland）"行军曲，这是因为两首的旋律非常相近，据称是荷兰执政威廉三世（William III）在统治英国期间引入这首曲子的。
