One of my student’s parents called me to ask about his son’s progress. “I haven’t seen him in 2 weeks, I thought he was sick” I said. We later found out he skipped class。He was pretending he was sick. He went to smoke with his friends. “I promise I’ll turn over a new leaf” (改过自新)he said. “Good, but remember a leaf only has two sides, you can’t turn it over a third time”. 
 
一位学生家长打电话给我咨询儿子的进度。“我两周都没见到他了。他不是生病了吗？”后来我们发现，原来他假病告假，去跟朋友抽烟去了。“我答应我会turn over a new leaf的”（改过自新，就好比一片树叶翻到另一边）。“好，但记住每片树叶只有两面，不能再翻了”（最后一次机会）
