Sofia Scicolone, better known as Sophia Loren, was born in Rome in 1934 and became one of the most famous actresses in Italian and international cinema. Raised in Pozzuoli, she began her career as a model and aspiring actress, achieving success in photostories. In 1950 she made her film debut and met Carlo Ponti, who would become her husband and mentor. Loren achieved fame with a series of films that showcased her talent and beauty, often playing popular and sensual women. She went on to have success in the United States as well, working with internationally renowned actors and directors. Some of her best-known films include "La ciociara" (whose soundtrack, composed by Armando Trovajoli and released by Cinevox Record, also contains some of her singing performances on songs such as "Ma dio addo sta," "Somewhere a dream"), for which she won an Oscar for best actress in 1962, and "Yesterday Today Tomorrow," which won another Oscar in 1965. In 1971 she starred in the film "La Mortadella," directed by Mario Monicelli and with a soundtrack by Augusto Martelli (Cinevox Record), within which she sang in the two songs entitled "Storia di Maddalena (first and second part)." Loren continued to work both in Italy and abroad, demonstrating her versatility in a wide range of roles. She has received numerous awards and honors for his career, including a Lifetime Achievement Oscar in 1991 and other prestigious international awards.
