Miki Ratsula has built a sizable audience by openly and honestly welcoming people into their world. The trans, nonbinary artist uses their platform to candidly document their life: from coming out to getting top surgery to their mental health journey. "when the light turns red" is a loving tribute song for everyone with Miki's signature vocals and production.

From Miki: “Red” (now re-titled “when the light turns red”) was the first song I ever put out for streaming. I had just turned 18 and had no idea how to produce a song. To this day it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve written and will forever hold a special place in my heart. While working on my sophomore album I played around with the idea of reimagining this song. I loved what was happening so I decided to go for it and also slightly re-wrote it to make it gender neutral. I know at the time when I put this out it was special to a lot of Women-Loving Women couples. I wanted to make this new version gender neutral so all of my listeners can relate and can connect with this version with any person that comes to mind. The production for this version also gives a strong idea of what to expect sonically with my second album.
